Julie McCoy is a published author, food and travel blogger, and playwright. Her initial blog, (theredhouseproject) focused on renovating an 1850’s colonial in Upstate New York. When she permanently moved to the Mohawk Valley in 2019, she started writing about travel, food, and some stories of life in Upstate New York. Her first book, Get In The Car: A Food and Travel Memoir was published in 2021 and is a collection of essays about traveling with her husband and two teenage children. In 2023, she published a collection of short stories, The Camp People (2023). Both are available on Amazon and The Camp People is also available on bookshop.org

From February 2024 to December 2025, she wrote food-related short stories on Substack under the title “Something Tasty.”  Of the 60+ stories penned, 31 were published in January 2026 as Something Tasty.  This short story collection is available as a paperback and e-book on Amazon and also on bookshop.org.

Her newest work, Randy & Rini, follows the quirky love story of two teenagers on a road trip through Upstate New York, Niagara Falls, and ultimately Canada. The book was published July 2026 and is available on Amazon and bookshop.org.

Currently employed as the Development Director for the historic Stanley Theatre in Utica, New York, Julie spends her free time gardening, cooking, and traveling.
